Helpful Tips
The best time for visiting Murchison Falls National Park is during the dry seasons: June to August and December to February. During these months, wildlife congregates around water sources, making game viewing more rewarding, and the trails are easily accessible. The boat safari to the falls is spectacular year-round, but water levels are lower during the dry seasons, allowing closer views of the rocks and the dramatic force of the falls.
Pack comfortable, neutral-colored clothing for game drives, along with a warm jacket for early morning excursions. Sturdy closed-toe shoes are recommended for rhino trekking. A waterproof jacket is useful for the boat safari, where spray from the falls can be refreshing. Essential items include insect repellent, sunscreen, a hat, sunglasses, a reusable water bottle, binoculars for wildlife spotting, and a camera with extra batteries and memory cards to capture the dramatic landscapes and wildlife encounters.
Follow your guide's instructions at all times, especially during the rhino trek where you must maintain a safe distance from the animals. Remain inside the vehicle during game drives unless your guide indicates it is safe to exit. Keep noise to a minimum to avoid disturbing wildlife, and never feed or attempt to touch any animals. Do not use flash photography near wildlife, and always dispose of litter responsibly to protect the pristine environment.
