Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Transfer to Kibale National Park
Your chimpanzee adventure begins with an early morning pickup from your Kampala/Entebbe hotel. Travel west through Uganda's beautiful countryside with scenic views of tea plantations, rolling hills, and rural villages. Stop at the Fort Portal town for lunch, known as the "Tourism City" of Uganda. Continue to Kibale National Park, arriving in the afternoon. Check into your lodge nestled near the forest edge. Enjoy an evening nature walk around the lodge area to spot birds and smaller primates. Dinner and overnight at your lodge, with anticipation for tomorrow's chimpanzee trekking.
Day 2: Chimpanzee Trekking and Bigodi Swamp Walk
After an early breakfast, report to Kanyanchu Visitor Centre for briefing by Uganda Wildlife Authority rangers. Begin your chimpanzee trekking adventure through Kibale's dense rainforest. As you walk, your guide will point out other primates including red colobus monkeys, black-and-white colobus monkeys, L'Hoest's monkeys, and grey-cheeked mangabeys. Once chimpanzees are located, spend one magical hour observing them as they feed, play, groom, and swing through the trees. Listen to their pant-hooting calls echoing through the forest. Return to your lodge for lunch and relaxation. In the afternoon, take a guided walk through Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary to spot more wildlife and birds. Dinner and overnight at your lodge.
Day 3: Return to Kampala/Entebbe
wha After breakfast, visit the nearby Amabere Ga Nyina Mwiru caves and waterfalls for cultural insights and scenic views. Alternatively, take a morning birding walk around the lodge. Begin your journey back to Kampala, stopping for lunch in Fort Portal town. Continue through picturesque landscapes with photo stops at the rolling hills and tea plantations. Your guide will transfer you back to your hotel in Kampala/Entebbe or to the airport depending on your departure schedule marking the end of your chimpanzee trekking adventure.
