Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Transfer to Kibale National Park

Your adventure begins with a scenic drive from Kampala or Entebbe to Fort Portal, a charming town nestled in the foothills of the Rwenzori Mountains. Along the way, you'll pass through lush tea plantations and rolling countryside. On arrival, enjoy lunch at your lodge inside Kibale National Park. In the afternoon, take a guided walk in the Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary. This community-run initiative is rich in biodiversity and birdlife, and is a perfect introduction to the natural beauty of western Uganda. Look out for colobus monkeys, mangabeys, and over 200 bird species including the great blue turaco.

Day 2: Chimpanzee Tracking & Crater Lakes Exploration

Wake up early for a briefing at Kanyanchu Visitor Centre before heading into the forest in search of our closest relatives, the chimpanzees. Kibale Forest is home to over 1,500 chimps and offers one of the best tracking experiences in Africa. You'll spend a magical hour observing their behaviors in their natural habitat, sometimes seeing them grooming, feeding, or swinging energetically through the canopy. After lunch, explore the stunning crater lakes near Kibale, known for their vibrant colors and breathtaking views. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Transfer to Toro-Semliki & Afternoon Game Drive

After breakfast, transfer to Toro-Semliki Wildlife Reserve, enjoying the beautiful scenery of Lake Albert along the way. Arrive at your lodge in time for lunch. In the afternoon, embark on a game drive through the reserve’s golden savannah plains, where you may spot Uganda kob, waterbucks, and possibly lions or elephants. Return to the lodge after the game drive for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4: Semliki National Park & Evening Game Drive

After breakfast, head to Semliki National Park to visit the famous Sempaya Hot Springs and enjoy a guided nature walk through the forest trails. After lunch, return to Toro-Semliki for an evening game drive to spot nocturnal wildlife such as civets, white-tailed mongooses, and possibly leopards. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
