Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Entebbe – Welcome to Uganda!

Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will be warmly received by a representative from Enshama Safaris. You’ll then be transferred to your hotel. After check-in, you can relax and refresh from your journey. In the evening, you'll enjoy a welcome dinner and a briefing from your guide about the exciting adventure ahead.

Day 2: Mabamba Swamp – Search for the Shoebill Stork

After breakfast, embark on a boat excursion to Mabamba Swamp, a birdwatcher’s paradise located on the shores of Lake Victoria. The highlight of this outing is the elusive shoebill stork, one of the most sought-after birds in Africa. You may also spot papyrus gonoleks, kingfishers, herons, and many other species. Return to Entebbe in the afternoon and enjoy a leisurely evening at your hotel.

Day 3: Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary – On Foot with Rhinos

Depart Entebbe and journey north toward Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, the only place in Uganda where you can see wild rhinos. Upon arrival, you’ll check in at your lodge. In the afternoon, join a guided walk to track white rhinos on foot, an exhilarating and safe experience. Learn about rhino conservation efforts and observe these majestic animals up close in their natural habitat.

Day 4: Murchison Falls – The Power of the Nile

Travel onward to Murchison Falls National Park, one of Uganda’s most dramatic natural wonders. En route, stop at the top of the falls to marvel as the mighty Nile River is forced through a narrow gorge, creating a powerful, thunderous cascade. Continue and check in at your lodge. After settling in, enjoy a game drive or a relaxing evening watching hippos and elephants near the lodge.

Day 5: Murchison Falls – Game Drive & Nile Cruise

Rise early for a morning game drive on the northern bank of the Nile. With luck, you may spot lions, giraffes, elephants, buffaloes, and a variety of antelope species. After lunch, embark on a boat cruise up the Nile to the base of Murchison Falls. Along the way, look for crocodiles, hippos, and birds like African fish eagles and bee-eaters. The boat gets close enough for fantastic photo opportunities of the falls.

Day 6: Drive to Kibale Forest – Home of Chimpanzees

After breakfast, depart for Kibale National Park, a lush tropical rainforest known for its large population of chimpanzees. Relax in the afternoon and prepare for your chimpanzee adventure the next day.

Day 7: Chimpanzee Trekking & Bigodi Wetlands

Today you’ll trek into the forest in search of wild chimpanzees. Led by experienced guides and trackers, you’ll follow vocalizations and signs to find these intelligent primates. Spend an hour observing their behavior – grooming, playing, or foraging. In the afternoon, explore Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary on foot, a community-based conservation project known for rich biodiversity and birdlife, including the great blue turaco.

Day 8: Drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park – Wildlife Encounters

Day 11: Gorilla Trekking – A Life-Changing Encounter

Today is the highlight of your safari: gorilla trekking. After a briefing by the Uganda Wildlife Authority, you’ll enter the dense forest with trackers to find a habituated gorilla family. The trek can be strenuous, but the reward – spending an hour in the presence of mountain gorillas – is unforgettable. Watch as they interact, eat, and care for their young. Return to camp for a well-earned rest.

Day 12: Travel to Lake Bunyonyi – Serenity and Scenery

Day 13: Lake Mburo National Park – Zebra Country
