Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Transfer to the Source of the Nile

Your adventure begins with a scenic drive from Entebbe or Kampala to Jinja, a charming town where the Nile River begins its epic northward flow. Upon arrival, enjoy a relaxing visit to the Source of the Nile, where you can take a boat ride to the very spot that fascinated early explorers. If time allows, stroll through Jinja’s colonial streets or unwind at your riverside lodge, soaking in the atmosphere.

Day 2: Optional Adventure in Jinja & Transfer to Mbale

Spend the morning your way — opt for an adrenaline-pumping white-water rafting expedition, try quad biking, or relax with a riverside breakfast. Day 3: Exploring Mount Elgon National Park

Today is dedicated to exploring the forests of Mount Elgon National Park. Choose from guided hikes such as the Kapkwai Forest Trail or a visit to Tutum Cave, home to bats and beautiful viewpoints. Keep an eye out for black-and-white colobus monkeys and colorful birdlife, including the endangered Jackson’s francolin. Enjoy a picnic lunch in the forest before returning to Mbale for a relaxed evening.

Day 4: Sipi Falls – Coffee Culture & Cascading Waterfalls

A short drive takes you to the cooler altitudes of Sipi Falls, one of Uganda’s most picturesque highland regions. Day 5: Abseiling or Relaxation – Drive to Pian Upe Wildlife Reserve

Enjoy a leisurely breakfast or, if you’re feeling adventurous, try abseiling down the face of Sipi’s main waterfall! Afterward, set out on a scenic drive to Pian Upe Wildlife Reserve, a remote and pristine savannah stretching across eastern Karamoja. Arrive in time for a sunset game drive, with chances to spot cheetahs, eland, zebras, ostriches, and the rare roan antelope in one of Uganda’s last true wildernesses.

Day 6: Morning Game Drive – Journey to Moroto

Start the day with a sunrise game drive or short nature walk through Pian Upe’s grasslands. In the afternoon, you can visit the Karamoja Museum or join a guided town walk to learn about the region’s culture and history.

Day 7: Cultural Encounters with the Karimojong

Today offers a deep dive into Karimojong culture. Day 9: Full-Day Safari in Kidepo – Valleys, Hot Springs & Wildlife

After lunch, drive north toward the Kanangorok Hot Springs, near the South Sudan border, where ostriches often roam.
